Travel Tips and Links to Island Resources
-
Since the St. Barth's airport does not have lights nor a long runway, only small planes land on the island during the daylight hours.
Your options are to fly to St. Maartin or San Juan and take a small flight or ride the ferry from St. Maartin.
Or, sail and arrive into the Port of Gustavia.

There are two airports in St. Maartin (SXM) and Grand-Case (SFG).
Flights from the US arrive into SXM. There are several flights a day on Winair and St Barth Commuter from SXM to St. Barths (SBH).
You generally need two hours in SXM for arrival and departure.
If all flights to SBH from SXM are sold out, another option is to fly out of the Grand Case airport.
Travel time varies between 15-45 minutes from SXM to SFG depending on traffic. Taxis are available at SXM.
-
Tradewind has daily flights San Juan to St Barths. Flight is about 1.5 hours.
-
There are multiple ferries leaving from SXM to SBH each day.
This link provides information for the various ferry services and dock locations.
You will need to take a taxi from the airport to the ferry dock.

The island of St. Barths is 10 square miles. There's a main road that covers most of the island's shoreline. If you want to explore the island, renting a car is most efficient and convenient. There is no public transportation system, Ubers or Lyfts. Taxis are available and encouraged if you plan to drink with dinner.
Many car companies rent on island: Budget, Hertz, Avis, etc. Our favorite is locally owned Gumbs.
